Profile to come.
I started my financial career in banking and moved to Buckland in 1997 after a break to have my children.
Outside of work my hobbies are dancing and dog walking.
I spend a few months every year at my other home in Spain, where due to the wonders of modern technology I can continue working as if I was sat at my desk in Dover.

The names Archer, Richard Archer licence to create. I’ve been in the print and marketing business since 1995. I have seen it change, change back and change again, and It will over and over. It is the reason Creative Marketing is so exciting. It’s not a job it’s a lifestyle.
When the weekends and Holidays come, you will mostly find my wife, my young family and myself at a beach, come rain, wind or preferably sunshine. I consider myself a sandcastle guru! We are partial to a BBQ or two most Summer weekends.
I’m the new boy, well maybe boy is stretching it a little as the wrinkles will attest.
I’d like to think I know a thing or two about design and print but they’re a savvy bunch here at Buckland with a combined knowledge far exceeding my 30+ years in the business. And so I find myself pleasantly surprised to be learning additional skills on a daily basis… thanks guys!
When not earning my keep you might find me with my head in an art or design book, loitering in an art gallery, thinking about or actually engaged in something creative or heading into the wind on a rugged coastal path in search of inspiration. And if I can combine any of the above with good friends, fine food and pint of English ale then I’m a contented man.
My time at Buckland started in the machine room back in 2008. Since then I have learned many addtional skills and have seen many changes as the company has moved with the times.
As a former footballer, making over 300 appearances for my local team Folkestone, I still have a keen interest in football. Since the London Olympics, where I saw the England Ladies team take on Brazil, I have been a follower of the Womens Premier and Super League. I have been lucky enough to have met some of world’s biggest stars in the ladies game, including Alex Scott, Fara Williams and current England captain Steph Houghton, along with a few ex-professionals too.
It is not all football though as my wife and I have been fortunate to travel to many exotic destinations such as Jamaica, Borneo, Singapore and Bali. However there is nothing quite like a Rod Stewart concert, he likes football too doesn’t he!
After leaving school in 1973 I started working at Buckland as an apprentice compositor and after seeing many changes within the printing industry I am now pre-press manager.
My hobbies include walking, hiking in the mountains of Austria, cycling and gardening.
I joined Buckland in 2007 coming from a print and design background. In my time here I have seen the company add a wide format and digital print department to the existing production capabilities. Digital really does make print fun as it has opened up many new possibilites just waiting for someone to try.
Away from Buckland, now that my cricketing days are over, I can often be found about 20 yards behind my better half and her horse as I struggle to keep up with them at showgrounds around the country as they compete. It isn’t all muck and shovels though as we do make the time to get away and I have never been able to shake the need to watch Dover Athletic.
Since joining Buckland in 1997 I have been fortunate to have had the opportunity to work in many aspects of print, form litho printing to digital, wide format and even finishing.
Outside of work I have a wife and four boys who all tower above me now! I enjoy tennis, footgolf and practicing DIY mechanics on my older cars, helping friends and family with theirs too.
I’ve worked here at Buckland for the since 2006. I’ve been in the design and print industry for the last 16 years, the first 6 years studing at college and university, while there I gained my degree in graphic design and advertising.
Out side of work I am a big football fan, I have just started to coach my son’s under 7 football team and taken up footgolf. I enjoy spending time with family and friends at home, days out or camping, I take part in most local 10k running events, I have also completed a sky dive from 14,000ft with the Red Devils, When I am not involved in sport i like to take photos and to collect coins.
I am Mr Fixit at work and it extends to everywhere else too!
I am a keen DIYer and always tinkering with things in my sheds! I enjoy Art and am a L plated watercolourist also enjoy pastels, pen and ink and charcoal. It’s a great hobby that although not to Matisse standards yet I enjoy painting, its very relaxing. I enjoy a wide range of artists and art history is an interesting subject if very opinionated at times ! My favorite artists are Salvador Dali, Claude Monet, Gustav Klimt and Ivan Aivazovskiy amongst many. I like to see art not just in museums but out in the open as sculpture or installation art, graffiti is very interesting!!
I am happy also taking a walk or cycle ride in our great British countryside, I am fascinated by nature and how it works and often bore my kids telling them about certain plants or insects. I enjoy walking with my dogs it’s a great way to get up close and personal with nature and is always interesting seeing something new or different.
I have always enjoyed history, local, uk and world wide and have a wide range of historical books that I am often found reading. I read a lot fiction and non fiction from a wide range of genres, Kathy Reichs, Terry Pratchett and Philipe Jose Farmer amongst my favorite reads. Though im often practising my DIY reinforcing my bookshelves as way too many books! At the moment I am learning Russian, finding out that the older you get learning is not so easy.
I’m the newest member of the team at Buckland. I graduated from the University of Southampton in 2015 and have been working in Customer Service and Sales before joining Buckland. I work with Richard and Dave to support and enhance the customer experience and deal with daily administration duties in the office.
When I’m not at work I love to cook; I have enough cookbooks to fill a bookshop! You’ll usually find me in my kitchen at home experimenting with a new recipe – although not always with success! I’m also a keen skier, especially after spending a season working as a Chalet Chef in Les Gets, France. Away from the slopes I love to be out in countryside walking and have just returned from my first trip walking in the Lake District. My other passion is for travel, whilst doing my degree in languages I found a love for visiting new places and have been lucky enough to live in France and Spain several times, even working at Disneyland Paris! Two of my favourite trips were a charity hitch-hike from Dover to Morocco, and a road trip to Albania.
